Analysis of Trump Organization’s Expansion into Oman and Saudi Arabia

The Trump Organization is set to launch a new resort in Oman by December 2028. Partnering with luxury real estate developer Dar Global and Oman’s state-run tourism-development arm, Omran Group, the $500 million project will be part of the AIDA mixed-use complex. This upcoming resort, Trump International Oman, will offer 140 rooms, an 18-hole golf course, a members-only club, various dining options, banquet and meeting facilities, a spa, and a nightlife venue called Cliff Hanging Night Club. The development aims to provide guests with exclusive amenities, including complimentary private beach access, all while being conveniently located just 10 minutes away from downtown Muscat.

Expansion into Saudi Arabia

In addition to the resort in Oman, the Trump Organization and Dar Global have collaborated on another project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Although details on the Trump Tower Jeddah have not been disclosed, Dar Global’s CEO, Ziad El Chaar, emphasized the joint effort to attract more international investors and vacationers. This initiative reflects a strategic move by both organizations to leverage their respective strengths in the current market.

Contradictions in Portfolio Performance

These new developments contrast with the overall trend in the Trump Organization’s hospitality portfolio. Despite the excitement surrounding the expansions into Oman and Saudi Arabia, the organization’s portfolio has dwindled from 15 properties in 2015 to just eight today. This contraction implies a shift in focus or strategy within the company, as they navigate through challenges in the hospitality industry.

Overall, the Trump Organization’s foray into Oman and Saudi Arabia presents an intriguing blend of ambition and caution. While the upcoming resort in Oman promises luxury and sophistication, the portfolio’s overall decline raises questions about the organization’s long-term trajectory in the hospitality sector. Only time will tell how these new developments will impact the Trump Organization’s standing in the global market.
