Missed Attractions for Young Cruisers on the Sun Princess

Princess Cruises recently announced that three attractions intended for young cruisers on the Sun Princess will not be available as planned. These attractions, which were meant to enhance the onboard experience for children and teenagers, have been scrapped due to unforeseen circumstances.

One of the canceled attractions is the RollGlider, a zipline-like ride that was set to provide guests with an exhilarating journey at a speed of 11 mph. Unfortunately, guests will no longer have the opportunity to experience this thrilling adventure. Another feature that won’t be coming to fruition is the Coastal Climb, a climbing structure designed to allow guests to ascend from decks 19 to 20 while enjoying scenic views before sliding back down. Additionally, the ropes course, which was another anticipated attraction in Park19, will also not be available for guests to enjoy.

Princess Cruises has chosen not to provide a detailed explanation for why these attractions will not be installed on the Sun Princess. The cruise line simply stated that they were unable to accept delivery of the attractions, leaving guests and cruise enthusiasts puzzled about the sudden change in plans. This decision has undoubtedly disappointed many families who were looking forward to enjoying these unique features on their cruise vacation.

Park19 was initially promoted as a three-deck activity zone on the Sun Princess that would cater to guests of all ages. The attractions were designed to appeal to multigenerational families, offering something for everyone to enjoy. The absence of these planned features is a missed opportunity for creating memorable experiences for families traveling together on the Sun Princess.

While the cancellation of these attractions is disappointing, Princess Cruises is moving forward with its plans for future ships. The line’s second Sphere-class ship, the Star Princess, is scheduled for delivery in September 2025. Hopefully, Princess Cruises will learn from the setback on the Sun Princess and ensure that similar attractions are successfully installed on their upcoming vessels.
