Revitalizing Luxury at Sea: Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf Transformation

In an exciting development for luxury travelers, Windstar Cruises is preparing to unveil a significant renovation of its flagship sailing vessel, the Wind Surf. Set to begin in November 2023 in Cadiz, Spain, this extensive refurbishment promises to enhance the ship’s allure and elevate the guest experience. By December 21, guests will board a revitalized vessel, boasting luxurious suites and reimagined public spaces designed to mirror some of the world’s most exquisite resorts.

Inspired Designs and Exclusive Accommodations

The thoughtful renovations introduce suites that draw inspiration from the grandeur of renowned luxury resorts such as The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia, both affiliated with the Anschutz family, which also owns Windstar Cruises. Notably, the Officer’s Suite will transform into the newly christened Owner’s Suite, providing an elevated nautical aesthetic. This exclusivity is enhanced by its prime location near the ship’s officers’ quarters, positioning it as a unique offering among the cruising elite.

Dining experiences aboard the Wind Surf will undergo a transformation, beginning with its main restaurant, Amphora. The redesign will incorporate oceanic elements, such as pearls and sea glass, into the architecture and decor, presenting patrons with a feast not only for the palate but also for the eyes. The integration of modern color palettes inspired by sunsets enhances the dining atmosphere, promising an immersive experience. Moreover, the Compass Rose will welcome guests with its vivacious decor featuring bright blues and oranges, alongside a new multipurpose area for live entertainment, which underscores the ship’s commitment to creating engaging social spaces.

Public areas on the Wind Surf will see a comprehensive makeover, introducing new layouts, innovative furniture designs, and contemporary wall and floor coverings. Windstar aims to create a more inviting lobby space, resembling a boutique hotel ambiance, complete with additional seating arrangements and a refreshed nautical vibe. Highlights will include a larger retail space designed to reflect the luxury shopping experience, providing guests with exclusive merchandise and upscale offerings throughout their journey.

The changes will continue into a second phase of renovations, set for completion by December 2026, where staterooms and various dining establishments such as the Stella Bistro and the Veranda will receive further upgrades. These enhancements demonstrate Windstar’s commitment to maintaining a trajectory of excellence across its fleet of Wind-class ships, which includes the Wind Star and Wind Spirit. The Wind Star has already completed its initial phase of updates, with a second round planned for April 2026.

The renovations of Wind Surf embody Windstar Cruises‘ dedication to enriching the overall travel experience. By blending luxury, comfort, and contemporary design with nautical themes, the company is poised to offer an unparalleled sailing adventure for its discerning clientele, ensuring that each journey is not merely a cruise but a luxurious escape.
